STEM WEEK
13th May 2024, Kuala Lumpur – STEM Week at Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (Private) was an exhilarating event, brimming with hands-on activities designed to ignite curiosity and foster innovation among Wesleyans of private school. This special week was dedicated to engaging Wesleyans in science, technology, engineering, and Maths through a series of exciting competitions and projects.
The festivities kicked off with a thrilling Rubik’s Cube Competition that showcased our Wesleyans’ impressive logical thinking and problem-solving skills, with Form 1 students leading the charge. On the 13th and 14th of May, during Maths and Science lessons, Wesleyans immersed themselves in DIY projects that introduced them to the basics of electronics, mechanics, and automation. They crafted practical and fun projects such as DIY door alarms, hand crank dynamos, infrared automatic table lamps, and solar-powered fans, making STEM learning both engaging and enjoyable.
The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the Inter-House Bridge Building Competition on the 15th of May. The Blue Lions, Red Eagles, Green Stags, and Yellow Bears competed fiercely to design and construct bridges using nothing but lolly sticks and hot glue. This competition tested their bridges’ structural integrity, load-bearing capacity, and aesthetic design, encouraging Wesleyans to apply their physics and engineering knowledge in creative and practical ways.
Another exciting event was the Scratch Coding Competition, which aimed to foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. Each house was tasked with conceptualising, designing, and presenting a drama-based Scratch coding project that introduced a new technology to a school campus.
STEM Week at Wesley was a vibrant celebration of our Wesleyans’ talent and enthusiasm for STEM. It highlighted the importance of STEM education in nurturing the next generation of thinkers, innovators, and problem-solvers. Above and beyond – WE ARE WESLEYANS!
